There were a few people without sponsors that made the cut into Damn Am at Minneapolis with ripping video footage. Check out James Cooke - switch flip crook in a line, good 360 flip, switch front blunts in a line, backside shifty flips, etc. Looking forward to seeing that dude in Minneapolis. We have been slowly working on turning the Damn Am events into more of a series that leads up to the end of the year at Tampa Am. Step one was moving Tampa Am to December. Step two is the SPoTlight Am of the Year Awards. SPoTlight Am of the Year awards will take place at ASR in January 2009. It will be based on 2008 Damn Am events and Tampa Am in December. The location and date for the Winnipeg Damn Am has changed. It is now the Vancouver Damn Am on August 8 - 10. More details are coming soon.

At this year's Damn Am at Minneapolis, the number of entries is now limited to 80 instead of 100 (which ended up actually being 112 last year). We feel that the quality of skating and judging is at a higher level with fewer skaters. Due to this large decrease in spots, there is almost no room for shop/flow riders that got in with video footage in the past. Normally, only legitimate skate companies can put riders into a Damn Am event, not local companies or shop sponsors. Individuals cannot sign up directly, but we'll still be happy to check out your footage to see if we can make something happen. Email Rob @ DamnAm.com with questions.

The Damn Am Down Under in Australia that was originally planned for February 2008 has been postponed to 2009. We need a little more time to plan for that event and find the right venue. The first Damn Am event of the year will be at Minneapolis in June.
